All About Barry
Loud. Quiet. Small. Or large. Whatever style, size or shape of his audience, Barry Antoine engages all ears that are within the sound of his voice. A little acappella. A song or two about a situation all too relatable. His writing style creates a refreshing new and trendy approach to soul music and R&B. There’s just something about Barry Antoine that makes you want to listen to him.
Barry knew at a very young age that he wanted to be an entertainer. After all, the arts was in his blood. His love for dancing and rapping started his journey to singing. After joining the Glee Club in elementary school, Barry began teaching himself how to sing by listening to the radio and watching music channels on television. In High School Barry was acting in school plays and by the time he entered college he was performing with his gospel choir and talent shows.
In 2002 Barry formed the Rap/R&B group “Deuce” along with a childhood friend. Rivaling with competitors from all over the nation, Deuce won the 2004 ASCAP Award for the Heineken Initiative contest with the song ‘Mistake’. The group then went on to perform at some well known establishments in NYC, such as BB King’s and SOB’s. Expanding his resume and songwriting abilities, Barry later became a solo artist working with Fernando Royal Singleton from Shabar Music Entertainment.
Growing up between Brooklyn and Harlem, contributed to Barry’s eclectic writing style. He was influenced by an array of artists including Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Aerosmith & The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In 2008 Barry co-wrote ‘Look But Don’t Touch’ & ‘Can I Get to Know U’ on R&B singer Mahasin’s “Wind It Up” Album. He also did featured background vocals on the song ‘Milky’ from R&B singer Farrah Burns’ album “Oval Metal” as well as Fernando Royal Singleton’s #nerdswag Synthphony. While prepping for his debut release, Barry continued to perform and perfect his live show. Performing in venues like Santos Party House, The Shrine, The Legendary Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar, and Farafina’s in Harlem. His hard work would pay off with an invitation to perform at the Soul Train Tribute Concert in Marcus Garvey Park July 2012 and landing a role in the stage play “Never Judge a Book By Its Cover” in March 2014.
Always looking for a way to improve his live show and take it to the next level, Barry strives to be one of the greats; he studies artists like Jay Z, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake & Pharrell Williams.
On Valentine’s Day, 2014, Barry released his debut album entitled “The Art of the Heart Break”. It featured songs about love, lust, & love lost from a grown man’s perspective. Most recently, Barry released the EP Eclipse on November 17th, 2017 and this project certainly displays his growth as an artist/producer but most importantly as a man. Both projects are available for streaming and download on all major music outlets including Tidal, Pandora, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play & iTunes just to name a few.
